sitting here thinking about how itadori sees himself, saying things like ‘i didn’t know there was anyone dumber than me’ or the fight against todo ‘what if you made me dumber than i already was?’ yet he’s so intelligent and i feel it’s overlooked a lot and he’s often underestimated. especially when it comes to others emotions he’s very observant. besides that, later on in the manga when they’re planning on how to go about taking sukuna down, it’s clear he had a big part in working things out. he’s come such a long way.

SO MUCH THIS! And he navigates all of that in the books with gaps in his memory and just... gah I love him. One of my favorite characters.

i also really like the fact that wei wuxian is both book-smart and street smart because usually authors tend to show one trait heavier than the other (which is fair) but i like how mxtx never shied away from showing how intelligent, ingenious and and aware a person wei wuxian is. like he canonically wrote a dissertation (which we can reliably believe to not be his only one) but he’s also extremely good at navigating investigations, knowing the climate of a locality based on the people, knowing how to be smart with words to get what he wants. and this kind of thing can get annoying sometimes if the writing doesn’t handle it well but it never feels forced with wei wuxian because his in-universe charisma is transcendental, jumping right off the page and making you believe that yeah, of course this guy is just that smart!

I think, perhaps one of the funniest things to come from EPIC popularising the Odyssey is that now a ton of people think Poseidon wanted to kill Odysseus.

In the Odyssey, Poseidon has no intention of killing Odysseus. In fact, part of the whole reason Zeus lets Poseidon do whatever he wants even though he thinks Odysseus is rad and should get to kiss his wife is explicitly because Poseidon had no intentions of killing Odysseus. Poseidon wanted to pay back the suffering/inconvenience blinding Polyphemus would have caused. It's a really abstract thing tbh. How do you pay back someone permanently disabling your son? Poseidon's solution was just to amputate Odysseus from his other half; i.e. Penelope. The end game was never murder, it was always an endurance race.

Also, for those wondering if there's any sort of in text reason for why Poseidon wasn't around in God Games - at the time in the Odyssey when Athena petitions Zeus to let Odysseus leave Calypso's island, Poseidon was -checks notes- on vacation in Ethiopia. Yep. He left to Ethiopia for a festival and thusly was very much absent for Athena's whole "please let Ody go? Please? 🥺" request.
